Breath, Mindfulness, and Meditation for Pregnancy

$250

Overview
In this five week course we will explore how tuning into and changing the breath, and introducing mindfulness practices can support you physically, emotionally and mentally through the changes and possible challenges of pregnancy. There will be a focus on breath practices that are highly supportive during both pregnancy and birth. Each week students will be introduced to new techniques that build on the previous week. Students will be supported to develop their own regular practice at home.  Over time the breathing and meditation techniques result in a calmer mind, this in turn will help deal with the challenges of life with more ease, and reduces stress. The techniques also result in more focus and clarity, which will help students be more effective and efficient in facing the challenges that life inevitably brings.

Outcomes
Students at the end of the course will:
·        Have tools to support rest and relaxation during pregnancy and birth, bringing clarity and focus to the mind and relaxation into the body;
·        Have established a daily meditation practice;
·        Understand and be practiced in how to check-in with the body, baby, breath, and mind, and make adjustments to support themselves mentally, emotionally and physically throughout the day;
·        Understand and be practiced in mindfulness techniques that can be used as mini-breaks throughout their day;
·        Be able to do some simple chair yoga poses to help physically release tension and improve their posture;
·        Be able to do some simple yet very effective restorative poses ideal for deep rest during pregnancy.

Yoga for Carers of Special Needs Kids

In this six week course we will draw from a range of yoga practices to support and nourish ourselves, with an aim to find practices that can be incorporated into our everyday routines for ongoing self-care. We will engage in gentle physical yoga practices to help release tension from our bodies. We will try different breath practices to help soothe, settle and calm the nervous system. You will learn simple mindfulness and meditation techniques to help settle the mind, to find more peace, clarity and focus. We will also explore self-care practices from Ayurveda (often called yoga’s sister health science). Yoga doesn't take the challenges of life away, but it does help us with dealing with the challenges of life from a calmer, more centred, grounded place. It helps us find balance again and nurture and nourish ourselves so that we can nurture and nourish our children.
